Partners of the Americas (Partners) is seeking a Finance Officer to support its Finance team. This position will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, performing monthly closing, generating grant reports and assisting with corporate financial reports. The position will support all accounting and audit functions for accurate and timely reporting requirements, both internal and external.  He/She should have experience with Government Grants and Contracts cost accounting, A-133 audits, accrual accounting and preparation of supporting schedules including revenue recognition, assets and liabilities. He/She should be very detailed oriented to ensure accuracy of all GL entries. The Finance Officer will provide support to and collaborate with program and administrative managers and other staff to ensure smooth functioning of the overall financial system and will also lend support to new business initiatives and special projects.



  • Oversee entry of all GL entries and imports into accounting software
  • Process accounts payable and cash disbursements – oversee processing of check and wire requests, issue and distribute A/P checks and wire confirmations
  • Process accounts receivable
  • Process all cash receipts and bank deposits
  • Process all cash disbursements (including petty cash)
  • Process and audit expense reports and reimbursements
  • Prepare journal entries and distributions
  • Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly tracking reports and reconciliations for some balance sheet accounts
  • Process travel invoices and create distribution reports and reconcile throughout the year
  • Check and process all field reports and uploads into accounting software
  • Set up contracts/grants/events in SAGE Accounting System
  • Pay and reconcile corporate credit cards
  • Administer and analyze the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers
  • Manage Your Membership Platform & Salesforce Platform, which includes creating invoices and billing
  • Manage  new electronic travel authorization process and Travel Policy
  • Provide trainings for interns and staff members on updated and current policies
  • Provide new staff member a full finance orientation
  • Assistance with projects as requested, such as budgets or benefits research
  • Review Vendor Forms and  W-9 for new vendors
  • Process Vendor forms and issue 1099 forms
  • Manage the Records Retention Policy and the off-site storage space
  • Process monthly close out and generate various internal and external reports and financial statements
  • Generate and reconcile grant reports on a regular and Ad Hoc basis
  • Provide financial analyses as requested
  • File Quarterly FCTR and FFR reports in the PMS system
  • Assist with the annual Form 990 process

In addition, candidates should have demonstrated ability to work independently and be a team player; possess good time management; be able to set priorities; be enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible to undertake multiple tasks.


  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in nonprofit accounting and/or relevant field
  • Intermediate/Advance Excel skills in addition to other Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Intermediate knowledge of Sage (Abila- MIP) Accounting Software is very desirable
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, FAR principles and regulations
  • Desirable but not required: Government Grants and Contract Accounting, and A-133 Audit Experience
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience adapting to a fast-paced, ever changing work environment and have the ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Spanish
