Position Summary

The International Republican Institute (IRI) is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for the anticipated USAID Indonesia Harmoni Program. The purpose of this program is to assist the Government of Indonesia and non-governmental organizations to address factors that push and pull Indonesians into Violent Extremist Organizations.

The International Republican Institute (IRI) is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for the anticipated USAID Indonesia Harmoni Program. The purpose of this program is to assist the Government of Indonesia and non-governmental organizations to address factors that push and pull Indonesians into Violent Extremist Organizations. 

Position Requirements  

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in International Development, Political or Social Science, Public Administration, Conflict Studies or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience with democratic governance and some programmatic experience in countering violent extremism (CVE) and conflict mitigation and resolution.
  • Significant demonstrated experience working on core outcome areas of the proposed activity, like community resilience, CVE, deradicalization, reintegration, rehabilitation, civic education, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with many types of stakeholders, including USAID, officials from various levels of government, civil society, and others.
  • Thorough understanding of the violent extremism (VE) environment in Indonesia, prior experience in Indonesia preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and work on a multi-partner team.
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia preferred.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provides crucial input to the design of the activity work plans, the liaising with government counterparts and the relationship with key institutions, and will contribute to the overall achievement of activity deliverables and results.
  • Serves as the main technical advisor on VE related components of the program; providing direction to the program and advise to the Chief of Party.
  • Provides general leadership, coordination, and management of relevant team members.
  • Provides regular updates to Chief of Party, Mission staff, and other relevant stakeholders on the analysis of VE issues relevant to the program.
