Humentum announced today that Christine Sow will be stepping down from her role as President & CEO on March 31, 2025. This mutual decision follows five years of dynamic leadership through a period of significant transformation and the recent shifts to the rapidly evolving funding ecosystem.

Reflecting on her tenure, Dr. Sow noted, “I’ve had an incredible 30-year career in global development and together with Humentum have created real change. I’ve accomplished what I set out to do while loving every minute of the job. As Humentum adapts to the emerging global development landscape and aligns its operating model to the new reality, I am looking forward to bringing what I’ve learned with our amazing team and community to my next endeavor.”

Since joining Humentum in 2019, Dr. Sow has guided the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously driving expansion and innovation. Under her leadership, Humentum has launched several important initiatives, including partnerships with the Mastercard Foundation and the Ford Foundation, the TIME Initiative (Transforming INGO Models for Equity), and the development of INPAS, the first global non-profit accounting standards (IFR4NPO.org). Supported by Jocelyn Boughton and Chris Proulx, Dr. Sow led the development of Humentum’s new FY2025-2027 strategy, which aims to strengthen 20,000 organizations by 2033 through building resilient operating models.

“At Humentum, we live our values and continue to walk the talk,” said Bruce Wilkinson, Chair of Humentum’s Board of Directors. “Christine’s leadership has been pivotal in positioning Humentum as a true partner for locally led development and as an advocate for transformative change in global development.  We are grateful for her contributions and wish her the very best in her future.”

Following Dr. Sow’s departure, Jocelyn Boughton, Chief Financial Officer and Chris Proulx, Chief Growth Officer will act as interim co-CEOs to ensure a smooth transition of leadership. Humentum remains committed to the vision of creating a more resilient and effective humanitarian and global development sector through hands-on training, expert consulting, a robust member community, and dynamic advocacy efforts.
