First global recognition dedicated to honoring behind-the-scenes leaders strengthening philanthropy’s infrastructure
On September 29, Humentum and The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) received the inaugural WINGS Ecosystem Builder Award (WEBA) in the Capability category for their development of the International Non-Profit Accounting Standard (INPAS).
Presented at WINGSForum 2026 in Montréal, Canada, the WEBAs are the first global recognition dedicated to honoring the behind-the-scenes organizations that support philanthropy through networks, knowledge, tools, resources, and collaboration. Selected by peer review across five categories (Capacity, Connections, Capability, Credibility, and Ecosystem Funder Leadership), the award recipients reflect the many ways ecosystem builders strengthen the foundations of philanthropic giving, build trust, convene communities, generate knowledge, and expand access to the tools that make philanthropy more effective.

A Global Standard for Nonprofit Financial Reporting
More than 90% of countries do not have standardized financial reporting for nonprofits, which leads to wasted time, money, and effort in a global, multi-billion-dollar sector.
The new standard received input from 358 organizations in 86 countries and engaged 15,000 individuals over six years. INPAS (available to download for free at www.inprf.org) provides a standalone, accrual-based framework that reflects the unique funding models and requirements of nonprofits while dramatically improving consistency, comparability, and credibility in nonprofit financial reporting.
Humentum and CIPFA are the founding members of the newly created International Non-Profit Reporting Foundation (INPRF), which publishes and maintains the standard. INPRF is a non-profit, public interest organization, established to develop and promote globally accepted financial reporting standards specifically for nonprofits.
“Collaboration is not simply goodwill,” said Chris Proulx, Chief Executive Officer, Humentum. “It is a capability to translate shared aspirations into collective action. INPAS is a result of collaboration practiced well: (1) with CIPFA, we designed a program that encouraged collaboration over competition; (2) we had funders committed for the long-haul who valued sector-wide infrastructure; and (3) decision-making was widely distributed, with over 1500 comments from 90+ countries.”
“INPAS shows the value of bringing technical expertise and diverse perspectives together around a shared purpose,” said CIPFA Chief Operating Officer Anna Blackman. “That collective experience has helped turn a complex challenge into a practical global standard. CIPFA is proud to see that work recognized, particularly for its contribution to stronger financial management and accountability.”
The next step is broader adoption, both by country governments and voluntarily by nonprofits and donors seeking a harmonized approach to nonprofit reporting.
“Developing INPAS required building a global community united by a shared vision: maximizing impact by reducing burdens with a single global standard,” said Ian Carruthers, Chief Executive Officer, INPRF. “The sustained support and expertise of contributors over six years helped us navigate the many challenges involved. It is rewarding to see the benefits now emerging in practice.”
