Lara Villar

Partnership Leader- Strategy & Innovation, World Vision

Lara has more than 20 years of experience with World Vision and other organizations. After 10 years with a global strategy consulting firm, Lara joined WV in 2009 and served as the Regional Director of Innovation and Special Projects for WV’s Southern Africa Region, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Lusaka, Zambia. Then, in 2012, she joined Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) – Healthier Lives Worldwide as Senior Vice President – Strategy & Innovation, based in New York. In 2019, Lara re-joined WV as Senior Director of Operations – Ministry Impact and External Engagement for the Asia Pacific region, playing a key role as a member of the regional senior leadership team. In 2021, Lara moved to the WV Global Centre, becoming Partnership Leader – Strategy Realization, Evidence, and Innovation. In that role, she has led several major initiatives, beginning with the launch of the second phase of WV’s global strategy, Our Promise.
Initiatives flowing from this under Lara’s leadership include an ambitious global impact measurement framework, and an action plan for re-shaping the WV Partnership into an agile organization.

Lara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, a Diploma in Human Rights from City University, London and PhD studies in Law and Justice from UNED, Spain. She and her husband, Juan, have two young children, and as a family, are members of the Catholic Church.
