Rob Hayes is a qualified chartered management accountant with over 16 years post qualification experience, of which 13 years is within the humanitarian, development and environmental charity sector. Rob’s most recent role was Chief Financial Officer for the Global Canopy Foundation where he was instrumental in the organisation achieving a financial turnaround. Notably, Rob significantly improved cost recovery practices, embedded better control over all budgets through improved financial management policies, processes and reporting systems. Rob also ensured strategic and operational decisions were made using sound financial information by increasing the visibility of the organisation’s finances.

Rob has extensive experience in senior management roles and has a passion for improving financial management by training and advising people around the world. Rob’s experience includes: operational and strategic financial management; experience of assessing training needs and designing training courses to meet those needs; reviewing country programme office policies and procedures and wrote a global finance manual which was implemented across all country programmes; and implementing policies and procedures in Restless Development’s Tanzanian programme office.
