April 28, 2022: We are thrilled to announce Humentum Learning Services (HLS) is partnering with Internet Society, an organization that, like Humentum, works towards a more equitable world. Internet Society advances equity through increasing access to the internet globally, and making the internet stronger for the future.

Internet Society joins a long list of organizations partnering with Humentum to provide benefits to our HLS subscriber community. We will be offering three of their courses on our nonprofit LMS for current subscribers as well as Humentum members, via the free, entry-level version of the LMS: Humentum Explore.

“The Internet has become indispensable to more than half the world’s population, changing how we live, work, study, and communicate. By taking our courses on Encryption, Digital Footprints, and Privacy, learners gain crucial skills not only for communicating securely online but also for protecting the building blocks that make the Internet work – ensuring we all play a role in keeping the Internet a place of possibility and opportunity.” – Esther Kioni, Senior Director, Training and Learning.

The courses are now available to all Humentum Learning Services Subscribers. The following topics are covered.

Encryption – (5 courses) Encryption is a key element in protecting us and our information as we go about our daily lives and as we interact with others online. It ensures our information, and our communications remain confidential, protected, and available only to those for whom we intend. This course covers how encryption works, threats to encryption, how encryption has evolved over time, and what you can do to advocate for strong encryption in your community and beyond.

Digital Footprints – (1 Course) Every day, whether we want to or not, most of us contribute to a growing portrait of who we are online – a portrait that is probably more public than we assume. This portrait helps companies target content at specific markets and consumers, helps employers look into your background, and helps advertisers track your movements across multiple websites. This course teaches participants how this might affect you, and how to take the first step towards managing your digital identity.

Online Privacy – (1 course) Privacy is an important right and an essential enabler of an individual’s autonomy, dignity, and freedom of expression. In the online context, a common understanding of privacy is the right to determine when, how, and to what extent personal data can be shared with others. This course provides a solid foundation for discovering how to protect and foster online privacy.

“The partnership between Internet Society and Humentum is a natural one, as learning and training is an important aspect of both organizations’ work. Access to knowledge and learning is what makes for a more equitable world. I can’t wait to roll out these courses for our HLS subscribers on our learning management system. These are timely topics everyone is looking for and can immediately use.” – Gus Curran, Senior Manager, Humentum Learning Services
