Humentum cares deeply about the health and safety of our members, clients, and event attendees. As a member network, bringing people together is what we do, so we are closely following updates and guidance from global expert resources including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization regarding the spread of the novel coronavirus resulting in Covid-19. As we host many events globally, we are keeping an eye on recommended travel guidelines and local information to keep our attendees healthy and safe.
Humentum will be hosting our next virtual roundtable Mar 12 2020 at 10:00am to 11:00am EST on the coronavirus and related Q&A. Registration link coming soon.
Training Workshops: Specific information regarding training workshops in affected areas will be emailed to participants. Additionally, if you are registered for a Humentum workshop and you have any questions, you can reach out to us at workshops@humentum.org. If you have a training need and our worried about booking at this time, please be aware that most of our learning content is available through our online courses, as well as the many other courses available through the Humentum Learning Service platform.
Conferences: In light of the Kenyan government’s ban on international conferences, and in alignment with Humentum’s commitment to the health and safety of our event attendees, we will regretfully be postponing OpEx East Africa, originally scheduled for March 31 – April 2, 2020. We will announce a new date for the conference as soon as possible. OpEx DC (1-3 September) is continuing as planned, and we are monitoring the situation closely in Washington, DC, USA.
Member Communications: We have created a new channel on Humentum Connect, our online member community, called Coronavirus (COVID-19) where Humentum members can exchange with peers regarding organizational challenges and responses to the COVID-19 outbreak, and where we will post information and resources as they become avaiable. We are also cross-posting announcements to the other Humentum Connect community channels. Join the COVID-19 channel here.
Prevention and management: Per the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, we encourage all our attendees and members to stay healthy by following these prevention techniques:
- Wash hands frequently throughout the day. Use warm water and soap. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue that is immediately discarded.Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Keep surfaces (especially bathroom surfaces and children’s toys) clean by wiping them down with a household disinfectant.
- Stay home from work or school if you are sick.
We encourage any individuals who have travelled to an affected area to self-isolate, avoid travel, and take your local country’s recommendations on how to make sure you are healthy.
Humentum will continue to update this page with new information about our events or helpful tips from our member community.
