Lucy Soar is a senior finance and international development professional with 25 years’ post-qualification experience in financial management, and specialised knowledge of grant management and donor compliance. She is a chartered accountant and spent 15 years in senior finance roles in a range of not-for profit and public sector organizations. She has worked in international development for over 10 years and has an MSc in Development Management. Before becoming a consultant, she worked as a grant manager at Frontline AIDS. She has extensive experience of managing multi-million dollar programmes funded by major institutional funders including USAID, DfID and the EU. She also worked on developing cross-organisational processes to support the management of restricted programmes.

Lucy helps INGOs navigate the complexities of donor compliance. She enjoys working with finance and programme managers to ensure that functions work together to manage risks whilst maximising results. She is committed to ensuring that development projects meet the needs of both donors and beneficiaries. She develops positive relationships with colleagues and ensures that assignments are completed on time and to a high standard. She has carried out assignments for a range of clients, including BBC Media Action, IPPF, VSO, ShelterBox and Sightsavers. She has worked with organizations in the UK, Africa, Asia and Central America to provide specialised advice and training on donor compliance, financial and risk management, policy and process development, due diligence, and capacity building.
