Robert Poccia has been working in the international not-for-profit sector for 15 years. He’s held HQ-based Accounting and Finance roles (G/L, A/P, Regional Finance) as well as field-based positions including Chief Finance Officer in Haiti, Director of Operations in Mozambique, and Regional West Africa Finance Business Partner in Senegal.

Case studies

As a consultant, he has worked with clients across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the US to build responsive cost proposals, enhance financial planning processes, conduct organizational assessments, help strengthen the capacity of local organizations, and accompany organizations as they seek to revise their indirect cost structures. Robert has worked with a variety of funders including the US Government, Gates Foundation, the Global Fund, FCDO, several EU-based governmental funding agencies, and many private foundations and philanthropies. Robert’s approach emphasizes strong communication—both verbal and written—recognizing that not everyone learns at the same pace. His experience lies primarily in the health space, but has also included productive infrastructure projects, workforce development, equitable land rights, and female economic empowerment programming. He is fluent in French and Portuguese, with a strong foundation in Spanish. He resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
