Timothy Asiimwe is a highly practical accountant (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK trained), with a great ability to translate accounting theory into practical and relevant sense to participants in trainings. With more than 15 years of top-level financial management experience, Timothy has delivered financial capacity building interventions for organisations in more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and America for small and large nonprofit organizations with Humentum. Timothy also worked with International Justice Mission (IJM) as the Africa Regional Accounting Manager responsible for mentoring and supporting field office accountants in the region and served as the chief financial liaison officer between field offices and IJM HQ in Washington DC. Timothy also serves as the Director of Finance at BarefootLaw Uganda and is responsible for laying the foundation necessary to transform BarefootLaw from a local nonprofit to a multinational legal aid services provider.
Case studies
Timothy has carried out several accounting system implementations, internal audits, organizational capacity assessments and capacity building interventions with Humentum and as an individual finance consultant. Timothy facilitated uniformity and consistency between the African field offices in accounting and finance procedures and trained field office staff and partners on relevant financial practices, internal control policies and procedures. He has special interest in accounting systems implementation for small to medium sized nonprofit organizations.
